Fulham have opened talks with Wolfsburg about signing their Swiss international Kevin Mbabu, according to a Sky Sports report this evening.

The newly-promoted Premier League club’s continued pursuit of a right back has led them to a familiar face in Mbabu. Fulham were reportedly close to signing him four years ago and the Wolfsburg defender is now back on their radar. The 27 year-old, who has previously been on the books of both Newcastle United and Glasgow Rangers, is one of three potential options they are considering to strengthen their defence.

Neco Williams is understood to Silva’s first choice at right back but nailing down a deal with Liverpool to land the Welsh international on a permanent basis after his successful loan spell at Craven Cottage is proving problematic at present. Mbabu, an experienced defender who won back to back Swiss titles with Young Boys, has won twenty two caps for Switzerland.
