Ivorian midfielder Jean Michael Seri will leave Fulham on a free transfer this summer after the club decided against extending his current contract for a further year.
The 30 year-old is the most regularly used first-team player to feature on the Championship champions’ released list, which has been announced this afternoon. Seri, widely derided as a flop after a desperately disappointing first Premier League campaign following his big money move from Nice in 2018, looked poised for another loan move abroad last summer until Marco Silva replaced Scott Parker at Craven Cottage.
Seri slotted into Silva’s midfield as a surprise selection in the 5-1 win at Huddersfield in August and was a consistent starter throughout the season, making 34 appearances and scoring his only goal in the 7-0 thrashing of Luton that clinched the title. He was not formally offered a new deal after indicative discussions with Silva and the club’s recruitment team as the Whites are looking to upgrade in central midfield as they prepare for another tilt at the top flight.
Fulham have also released centre backs Michael Hector and Alfie Mawson as well as reserve goalkeeper Fabri and right back Cyrus Christie, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Swansea. Youth players Jacob Adams, Eric Ameyaw and Timmy Abraham are also set to leave SW6 this summer.
Gob Smacked he is being let go, thought he had a great season and another year would have been good as he is an experienced player
The phrase ‘trying to make sense’ doesn’t fit with FFC, realised that a long time ago after the great MAF. We give Ream and Kebano contract extensions but let Seri go for free after we paid out £25m for Seri and MLM from Nice. The Khans have not learnt anything and that’s a phrase that fits with FFC.
What the Khans know about football and how to run a football club you could write on the head of a pin
It’s beyond me this decision if it’s hot broken don’t fix it Seri has had his best Season with us by far that (director of football Tony Khan) starts getting involved again Totally agree with all the others same old same old all this transfer speculation we keep hearing but still have not signed anyone Silva won’t last because the players he wants A certain Tony Khan starts getting involved to find a cheaper option it’s prove it by giving Ream Kebano contracts and letting Seri go I ask Tony. Khan let Our Manager do his job your Dad appointed him
And why haven’t we got rid of Kongolo what a waste of money he was another TK recruit I wish TK would leave football business to the manager.
