Ivorian international Jean Michael Seri, a long-term target of Barcelona, was heralded as one of the signings of the summer when he joined Fulham in July 2018. He actually struggled for the first three seasons at Craven Cottage, ineffective in his first campaign in English football and loaned out thereafter. Seri’s remarkable renaissance was entirely unexpected – when he was elevated to the first team at Huddersfield in August 2021 following an injury crisis. He became a regular purveyor of peerless passing in Marco Silva’s stylish side, signing off with a superb goal in the 7-0 win over Luton that clinched the Championship title. Seri, released in May as he would no longer be sure of first team football, now plays for Hull City.
