Fulham are reported to have sounded out Coventry City about the prospect of signing striker Viktor Gyokeres this summer.

Football Insider suggests this morning that the Swedish international is high on their list of forwards to supplement Aleksandar Mitrovic as they plot their forthcoming Premier League campaign. The 23 year-old, who has scored seventeen goals for Mark Robins’ men this season, spent four years with Brighton and Hove Albion but never made a single league appearance for the Seagulls.

Gyokeres made his move to Coventry permanent after scoring three times in a loan spell for City in 2021 and has starred this season as the Sky Blues have surprised several established Championship sides – including completing a league double over Fulham. The former Brommapojkarna forward scored twice as Coventry came from behind to beat Marco Silva’s side 4-1 in October. His superb second tier form earned him a recall to the Swedish national set up later that month when he replaced an injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Gyokeres has two years to run on his current contract and it is likely that Coventry would play hardball regarding any possible departure.

Marco Silva is known to be seeking striking depth, with only Brazilian forward Rodrigo Muniz – signed from Flamengo last summer – and 19 year-old Jay Stansfield as understudies for Mitrovic, who has scored 41 goals in a sensational season, at present.
