Harrison Reed revelled in Fulham’s promotion party after the Whites secured their place in next season’s Premier League with a comfortable win over Preston North End last night.

The combative midfielder delivered an all-action display at the heart of the Fulham midfield as Marco Silva’s side bounced back from back-to-back defeats to confirm their ascension to English football’s top flight. Reed spoke to FFC TV shortly after a spontaneous pitch invasion greeted the final whistle:

“Amazing. I mean it is what we’ve worked for all season. We didn’t manage to do it on Friday night, but no better place to do it than at home and in front of the crowd. We needed them tonight, we knew it was going to be a tough game and needed the crowd behind us. From minute one, they were right behind us, we felt the energy and that spurred us on.

It is going back to the basics and believe in ourselves and doing what we’ve done all the season. Win football games and that’s what we’ve done tonight.”

The former Southampton midfielder confirmed that Fulham were not content with clinching promotion, but wanted to win the Championship title. Silva’s side travel to second-placed Bournemouth, managed by former Fulham boss Scott Parker, on Saturday.

“That was the first words the manager said. We need to go again Saturday, get the three points and push on and be champions.”
