Fulham have opened talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over a potential £7m deal for Israeli international Manor Solomon.

The highly-rated 22 year-old is one of Marco Silva’s top targets to replace Fabio Carvalho, who is due to join Liverpool this summer. Solomon, who made his name as a tricky seventeen year-old left winger with Maccabi Petah Tikva, can also play as a classical number ten or on the right flank and has previously been linked with a whole host of leading European sides. He could be available for a significantly reduced fee this summer given the ongoing uncertainty following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Solomon has won two Ukrainian titles and the domestic Cup competition in four seasons with Shakhtar since making £5m move from Israel in January 2019. He has scored 22 goals in 106 appearances for the Miners, famously scoring a last-minute winner at Atalanta in October 2019 at the age of 20. He followed that up with a well-taken equaliser at Manchester City in a 1-1 draw the following month and scored both home and away in victories over Real Madrid in 2020.

Solomon has scored four goals in 28 appearances for Israel – and is widely considered his country’s best footballer. He scored in a 2-2 draw against Austria last September and has supplied seven assists at senior level.
