Neco Williams was disappointed to miss out on audacious first Fulham goal but felt the league leaders were ‘clinical’ against Blackburn and thoroughly deserved the three points.

The Welsh full-back was denied a goal of the season contender when his 60 yard lob of Thomas Kaminski came back off the Hammersmith End crossbar – but he added another assist as the Whites swept aside their promotion rivals with two goals in the space of ten minutes before half time.

Williams told FFCTV this afternoon:

“Every game is going to be tough for us. We’ve top of the league Every team that’s going to come here is going to give us a good game and they did, to be fair to them. But I thought we were clinical today, we took our chances and overall we dominated the game. The most important thing was the three points and the clean sheet and that’s what we got.

We take each test game by game. Getting them three points, it doesn’t matter how we get them, that’s the most important thing. Getting the clean sheet is a bonus. Winning these games is our aim for the rest of the season.”

On his cheeky chip from just inside the Blackburn half, Williams said:

“I’m still waiting for my Fulham goal. Today, I came very close – it weren’t meant to be today! If it was a bit lower, it would have gone in but it hit the bar. Gutted that didn’t go in, but hopefully one will go in soon!”
