Neco Williams was delighted to score his first senior club goals as Fulham put five past Swansea to extend their lead at the top of the Championship.

The on-loan Liverpool full back, who came so close to opening his Fulham account with an audacious lob from fifty yards against Blackburn on Saturday, bagged a brace late in the second half in south Wales tonight as the Whites ruthlessly took advantage of their hosts being reduced to ten men. Williams, who is enjoying a superb loan spell at Craven Cottage, shared his delight with FFCTV after the final whistle:

“If you don’t shoot, then you won’t score! Today, obviously, I took my chances and scored. Luckily I got two goals and not just one. I came so close in the last game but this game I got my goals, I’m happy and I’m just relieved.

The first one happened quick. It was just quick thinking. I knew there was obviously players in front of me and I just tried to squeeze it in. Luckily, it’s gone through a couple of legs and a few deflections but it is a goal and all of them count.”

His second goal was a stunning volley from outside the box that wrapped up a very successful night for Marco Silva’s side.

“I think as soon as you feel that connection you know its either going to be very close or a goal. As soon as it left my foot, I knew it was going to be one of them and luckily it was a goal. I’m delighted. Like I said, I came so close last game but this game luckily I scored. It weren’t just one, it was two. I’m delighted. Scoring in front of the Fulham fans was a bonus. Obviously, it’s a long journey for the Fulham fans to come here – so all credited to them. Every game, every week, it’s great support. To score in front of them was icing on the cake.”

The Welsh international felt Fulham’s convincing victory was all the more impressive given the quality of Swansea’s patient, passing football in the first half.

“In the first half, they played some fantastic football. They gave us some real problems. The game obviously changed when they got a player sent off – and then we dominated the game then. The first 40 minutes or so, it was tough. They gave us a real good go. The three points is the main thing. Unfortunately, we didn’t keep the clean sheet but if we’re scoring five goals it doesn’t really matter!”
