Fulham full back Antonee Robinson will be going to Qatar with the United States this winter – after the Americans finished third in the CONCACAF qualifying table following a 2-0 defeat in Costa Rica last night.

Robinson, not a regular in Gregg Berhalter’s line up until the middle of this World Cup qualifying campaign, played ninety minutes in San Jose – his third full game in a gruelling seven-day stretch that ensured the USA made amends for their failure to reach the finals in Russia in 2018.

It represents a whirlwind rise for the 24 year-old, born in Milton Keynes, who made his international debut four years ago, qualifying as his father is an American citizen. Robinson’s bursts of pace down the left flank have benefited both his club and country this season – and set up two goals during the crucial weekend drubbing of Panama.
