Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic was named the EFL Player of the Year at tonight’s London Football Awards.
The Serbian striker, who has scored 34 goals in 31 games in the Championship this season, beat his Fulham team-mates Neeskens Kebano and Harry Wilson to the award. The QPR pair Ilias Chair and Chris Willock was also nominated in this category.
Mitrovic said: “I want to say thank you to everyone who voted for me. It’s a really nice and big honour for me, especially when you consider how many talented players, with a big future, play in our league. This award is really special, it’s an individual one but I have to thank my teammates and everyone involved at this football club that works really hard on a daily basis in order to help me and my teammates perform well.”
Fulham head coach Marco Silva came third in the London manager of the year award behind West Ham boss David Moyes and Sutton United’s Matt Gray.
