Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic played the full ninety minutes as Serbia scraped a narrow win over Hungary in an international friendly in Budapest this evening.

Mitrovic squandered a couple of good chances to open the scoring in the first half before the Serbians were awarded the game’s only goal seven minutes before the break following a VAR review. Zsolt Nagy was adjudged to have scored an own goal after Peter Gulacsi failed to prevent his attempted clearance from going over the line.

Sergei Milinkovic-Savic struck the post with a free-kick just before half-time and Serbia, after making three changes at the interval, had the better of the second half as well. They dominated possession but couldn’t add a second goal with Luka Jovic spurning a decent opportunity before late chances for Roland Sallai and Dominik Szoboszlai for the hosts.

Serbia take on Denmark in another friendly on Tuesday evening.
