Fulham are eying a summer move for Bolton Wanderers forward Dapo Afolayan, according to reports in the north west.
The versatile Harrow-born forward, who can play on either wing as a centre forward or a number ten, leads the scoring charts for Wanderers this season – having scored thirteen goals in 42 appearances in all competitions. Fulham have sent scouts to watch the 24 year-old regularly this season and are lining up a summer swoop for the former Chelsea academy player.
Afolayan worked his way back through non-league football having opted to leave Cobham to pursue an engineering degree. He scored 15 goals in fifty appearances for Solihull Moors before signing for West Ham, scoring on his only senior appearance in a 4-0 FA Cup win over Doncaster Rovers. After loan spells at Oldham and Mansfield, Afolayan joined Bolton on another loan last February – scoring on the final day of the season against Crawley as Wanderers won promotion to League One.
Afolayan has flourished since making his move to the University of Bolton Stadium permanent. He is under contract at Bolton until the summer of 2024 – so Fulham will need to put together a substantial offer to secure the services of one of Ian Evatt’s key players.
