Fulham have registered their interested in signing AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli, according to reports this evening.

The 27 year-old centre back, who came through the Roma academy ranks, has been at the Giuseppe Meazza since 2015 and captained the Serie A giants for three seasons after Leonardo Bonucci joined Juventus. But Romagnoli has dropped down the pecking order after Fikayo Tomori’s impressive first season in Italy and his seven year spell Rossoneri could well come to an end this summer.

Romagnoli’s current contract comes to end at the end of this season and talks over a proposed new deal have stalled with Milan’s offer rumoured to be worth less than half his current salary. Fulham are eager to add experienced centre backs to their squad as they prepare for another attempt to survive in the Premier League next season and Romagnoli is named by Teamtalk as one of the defenders on Marco Silva’s summer shopping list.

Romagnoli has made just short of 250 senior appearances for AC Milan, featuring into both the Europa League and the Champions’ League. Fulham’s interest is ambitious as there will be no shortage of suitors for such an accomplished defender should he be seeking a new club come the summer.
