Taye Ashby-Hammond’s astonishing FA Cup run came to an end at Goodison Park tonight. The on-loan Fulham goalkeeper hadn’t conceded in 425 minutes of Cup action for non-league Boreham Wood before Salomon Rondon put Everton ahead just before the half mark in their fifth round tie on Merseyside tonight.

Ashby-Hammond, outstanding in the National League side’s sensational victory at AFC Bournemouth in the previous round, had kept clean sheets against Eastleigh, St. Albans, AFC Wimbledon as well as the Cherries. The 22 year-old, whose excellent form between the sticks has also helped sustain Boreham Wood’s promotion push, was beaten again by Rondon before the end – but Luke Garrard’s side acquitted themselves admirably.
