Fulham head coach Marco Silva has been voted the Championship manager of the month for January.

He won the accolade after steering Fulham through last month unbeaten as the Whites made a fantastic start to the new year having had to remain patient following an extended festive break due to coronavirus-related postponements. The Londoners recorded a second 7-0 success of the season at Reading before registering successive 6-2 victories over Bristol City and Birmingham City. That was followed by a rollercoaster 3-2 win at Stoke and a 1-1 draw at home to Blackpool, taking Fulham’s tally to 23 goals in January.

The chair of the SkyBet judging panel, former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, said: “Mouth-watering football with goals galore for Marco’s Fulham. 13 points and 23 goals in their five January games is fantastic entertainment for the watching faithful.”

Silva, who claims his second manager of the month award of an excellent campaign, said: “I thank the panel for selecting me as the recipient of the Championship Manager of the Month award for January. A massive part of being recognised with this award is the collective effort from everyone at Fulham Football Club, which includes the players, football and coaching staff, and all of the staff that work so hard behind the scenes at Craven Cottage and Motspur Park. January was a good month for us but we know that we haven’t achieved anything at this point, and we must continue in a positive way until the end of the season.”
