Record breaker Aleksandar Mitrovic spoke of his special bond with the Fulham fanbase after last night’s victory over Peterborough United.
The Serbian striker’s brace secured another vital three points and took him past Ivan Toney’s leading tally of Championship goals in a season. He told the waiting press pack after the final whistle last night about why Fulham is so special to him.
“The moment I stepped in this place, I felt love. This club is maybe not the biggest club in the world, but it’s a club that has soul, passion. This club is like a small family. I have an amazing connection with this club, and every single time I step on this pitch I feel really comfortable, I get a really loving welcome. It’s an amazing feeling and it’s nice to share this amazing moment with this club and these fans.”
Long may it continue.
Top man, he is already a Fulham legend & continues to give 110% every time he walks on the pitch in a Fulham shirt. The love is reciprocated, hopefully he will continue to score more goals & take us to the promised land.
Apart from from his fabulous achievements, is it not a pleasure to see a man and his club and fans in complete harmony without the usual threat of going on strike or his agent pushing for a move at the first hint of success or failure, as a lifelong follower of Fulham is like a throwback to the likes of Haynes or Cohen who genuinely thought of the club as well as himself.
Here’s hoping we give the premiership a proper go next year and Mitro is able to show that he is the real deal, which any Fulham fan can tell you even now.
I think the difference about the Fulham fans is that we show our appreciation for the effort and skill that a player shows rather then/as well as the result. If I look back over the last 60+ years of watching this great club, it’s the great pieces of individual skill or pass or dribble and the emotions I felt at the time that I remember and cherish. Recently Mitro coming back to the centre line and flicking the ball to Wilson in the last few games resulting in goals. Majestic!
We love our players and what they give to our club.
