Fulham full back Marlon Fossey is ‘loving’ life on loan at Bolton after scoring his first senior goal in the weekend win over Oxford United.

The American full back scored a stunning equaliser at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday before setting up the winner as Ian Evatt’s side secured a vital win over the play-off contenders. Fossey, who had only played nine professional games before his January move, revealed that he is relishing the opportunity offered to him by Wanderers.

“I thank the gaffer for trusting me because many clubs didn’t before I came here. I am enjoying playing under him and playing in this team, there is a lot of quality here and it is a lot more enjoyable when you play with good players. I am loving it at Bolton on and off the pitch.”

Bolton are reportedly keen to sign him permanently at the end of the season – although Fossey remains highly-rated at Fulham, where the 23 year old’s progress towards the first-team set up has been hampered by a succession of serious injuries.

“Like I said before I like to try and keep my focus in the now and it seems to be working for me at the moment. It is always nice when you are appreciated, and the fans have been great, but I think it is important I keep looking at the next game, the short-term, and then my performances will benefit.”

Fossey celebrated his fabulous finish with a triple somersault in front of the travelling fans, which was absolute as memorable as his terrific performance.

“The celebration came from my gymnastic background. I competed for Jersey a few times but ended up having to focus on football because I wanted to get to a higher level. Luckily, a lot of what I learned has stayed with me. The rustiness of it is because I haven’t scored in four or five years. Hopefully it will get smoother, the more I score”
