Fulham are considering a move for Derby midfielder Tom Lawrence, according to Teamtalk.

The website claims the Welsh international could prove a cut-price replacement for Fabio Carvalho, who has yet to sign a new deal at Craven Cottage as he enters the final six months of his current contract. Rams captain Lawrence has enjoyed an excellent season as Wayne Rooney’s side battle points deductions and financial uncertainty, scoring seven times in 23 league appearances as well as adding three assists.

An EFL statement yesterday revealed that Derby’s administrators still have to demonstrate that they can run the club as a going concern beyond the end of February and a fire sale of Pride Park assets cannot be ruled out. The 28 year old’s contract expires at the end of the season – and Derby may elect to cash in to raise crucial funds during the final days of the January transfer window.

Fulham would face fierce competition from several Premier League sides. Wolves, Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley and Newcastle are known to be interested in Lawrence, who has scored 33 goals in 173 appearances since joining Derby from Leicester City in August 2017.
