Fulham are interested in taking Liverpool full back Neco Williams on loan for the rest of the season, according to the Athletic.

It is understood that the Championship leaders’ move for the Welsh international is separate to the ongoing discussions between the clubs regarding the potential departure of Fabio Carvalho. Williams is one of a number of possible replacements for Denis Odoi, who has been linked with a move to Club Brugge.

Were Odoi to move immediately as opposed to sign an agreement to return to his homeland in the summer when his current Fulham contract expires, it would leave Marco Silva short on senior right backs with Kenny Tete injured and Steven Sessegnon looking to play regular football on loan.

Williams, who has won seventeen caps for his country, is an attacking full back who would suit Silva’s attack-minded approach. The Wrexham-born defender has made only eight appearances this term and would be keen to earn more first team experience. The 20 year-old seemed unlikely to move on loan at the start of the day but much will depend on whether he is willing to drop down a division.
