Fulham have failed in a bid to bring Roma holding midfielder Amadou Diawara to London, according to reports from Italy tonight.

The Guinea international is widely expected to leave the Italian giants before the end of the January transfer window and has interest from a number of other Serie A sides as well as abroad. Caligari and Torino have been linked with moves for the former Napoli midfielder, but Valencia and Galatasaray have submitted firm offers. It is thought that the 24 year-old is not interested in playing second tier football.

Fulham boss Marco Silva had been keen on adding a defensive midfielder to his squad earlier in the window and the Championship leaders were heavily linked with Okay Yokuslu, who spent time with West Brom on loan last season.
