Ibane Bowat was delighted to mark his first start in eight months with a clean sheet as Fulham’s under 23s got back to winning ways last night at Stoke.

The Scottish youth international has been sidelined for the entirety of this season with a back injury and stepped into Steve Wigley’s starting line-up following last week’s defeat at Southampton, having returned as a substitute against Nottingham Forest a fortnight ago. Bowat, a commanding presence at the heart of a rejigged back four, told FFCTV that he was pleased with his performance:

“It felt great. It felt good to back out there, playing with the boys. My last game was against Man City last season so it had been a while – but I’m glad to have got a game under my belt and I’m ready to play more and more games and progress to the end of the season.

I’m glad to have performed well. I thought the team did really well. I’m happy to have kept a clean sheet on my return with the under 23s. We worked hard in training, we made a few amendments. We had to get a win today – we never want two losses in a row. I thought the boys did really well tonight. We stuck in there, it was tough a game and we got a win in the end.”
