Fulham will face competition from Bordeaux in the race to land Celta Vigo defensive midfielder Okay Yokuslu, according to reports from France.

The Turkish international is interested in a return to England, having impressed on loan with West Bromwich Albion during the second half of last season – despite the Baggies’ relegation from the Premier League. Fulham are keen to add the 27 year-old to their midfield options, especially with Jean Michael Seri set to miss a flurry of rescheduled January fixtures, and are ready to offer a loan deal with a compulsory option to purchase should they be promoted back to the top flight.

Bordeaux have now made contact with Celta over a potential deal for Yokuslu, according to the Foot Mercato journalist Sebastien Denis. The former Trabzonspor midfielder has ruled out a return to Turkey, ending Galatasaray’s hopes of signing him in January. Yokuslu made his eighth appearance of the season in Celta’s 2-0 defeat by Real Betis yesterday afternoon – but the Spanish club are believed to still be keen to agree his departure well before the end of the transfer window.
