George Wickens kept a third consecutive clean sheet in a man-of-the-match performance as Wealdstone held Wrexham to a goalless draw in Wales yesterday afternoon.

The on-loan Fulham goalkeeper made a string of excellent first half saves as the hosts failed to score for the first time this season. He did brilliantly to deny Aaron Hayden and then tipped over Ben Tozer’s header and palmed away a Luke Young drive in quick succession. Wickens was less regularly troubled in the second period as the Stones battled to a well deserved point. The England youth international has now kept seven clean sheets for Wealdstone this season.

Connor McAvoy, who extended his loan spell with Wealdstone until the beginning of January, put together a composed display at the heart of the visiting back four as Wealdstone kept one of the division’s most dynamic attacks at bay.
