Fulham are putting together a new contract offer for teenage midfielder Fabio Carvalho as they attempt to convince him to stay at Craven Cottage, according to reports this afternoon.
The playmaker, who made his senior debut under Scott Parker in the Premier League last season and has shone for Marco Silva this term, has just seven months remaining on his current deal and has rejected two previous offers to commit his future to the Championship club. Carvalho has a whole host of suitors across Europe – as well as being tracked by at least ten English top flight clubs – but is understood to be waiting for his new representatives to take over in January before making a final decision.
The England youth international has become a key part of Silva’s side that has stormed to the top of the Championship and scored his fourth goal of a sensational season against Barnsley on Saturday. Football League World reports that the Whites are ready to better the terms of their previous offer, which is rumoured to have included a wage packet of around £25,000, in a bid to secure the services of the 19 year-old beyond next summer.
I really hope Fabio will sign a new contract with Fulham but if he has no loyalty to the club then we will be better off finding some one who wants to play for us,the grass isn’t always greener else where look what has happened to Ryan Sess and others who left.
This is sadly about money. Football wise he would be better playing in the prem with Fulham rather than sitting on the bench at a Liverpool. At 19 there is no real doubt about that…but…if he knows he can get 50k a week on a long term contract then can you blame him? I think we should just give him what he wants. If we can get him under contract then we’ll have a huge asset going up in value each week. That has to make sense rather than letting him leave for free.
I don’t blame the lad for cashing in on what may be his only shot at a big contract as nobody knows if his progression as a potential top player will be realised, why don’t Fulham, who are likely to get little or nothing for him, offer a belter of a contract and say 25-30% of any transfer fee they receive for him, which if he does reach the highest levels should be pretty substantial, thereby creating a win win situation for club and player, paid for by the purchasing club.
Reckon I should be an agent ?? COYW
