Tyrese Francois has turned down Fulham’s offer of a new contract, according to the Athletic.
The Australian midfielder, currently sidelined with a hip complaint, had impressed Marco Silva after the Portuguese head coach took over from Scott Parker at Craven Cottage this summer. Francois, who made his Premier League debut on the final day of last season as a substitute against Newcastle, started the opening game of the new campaign against Middlesbrough in central midfield and played in the League Cup at Birmingham City before slipping down the pecking order following Jean Michael Seri’s return to the side.
The 21 year-old’s current deal expires at the end of this season and Francois, who missed out on the Australian Olympic squad earlier this summer, is believed to be keen to find first team football to further his career.
What is going on with all of our young players turning down new contracts, we can’t afford to keep losing our best young talent, if they are good enough then we need to play them, and I think some of them are better than the ones currently being picked by Silva. This should have been sorted before now.
Whilst a great believer in the development structure at the club and encouraged by the players that have come through over the last 6-8 years I’m struggling to understand why we are not learning the lessons.
Why are the contracts that are coming to an end not originally fitted with a 1or 2 year club extension option?
What offers are being made that seem so easy to turn down?
Surely if we want them to sign a new contract we believe at this age they are part of the clubs future?
If they are on contract then any future sale should produce good sell on value.
Come on Fulham get a better grip on these future stars if that is in fact what you think they are and offer new contracts that are not so easily pushed away!!
We have this great academy and keep letting all this talent go for free yet again. Something seriously wrong there.
Is the problem perhaps, TK’s obsession with cleverness in the dark arts of deal making?
Is he believing that greatness comes by being a dealing ninja? Does he have delusions of having achieved mastery status?
If so he has perhaps missed the course modules on human beings and their individualities. And perhaps the ones on football.
Yes this is very worrying and is happening far too often. What is going on behind the scenes? I think we have a right to know.
All these young players are having there heads turn by money.
They need to look at roberts & sessegnon . If they don’t want to play for Fulham get rid.
The present Fulham world director of football based in his bedroom keeps buying overpriced rubbish players of what I’ve seen would struggle to get in the national league.I wonder if he knows who our young players are especially as they don’t wear leotards.I noticed cav when he comes on for his rubbish 15 mins has a different haircut every week .
It looks like another one bites the dust. Agents are turning the young players head plus the fact that top priority is not given to getting them to sign contracts as soon as possible. Give them more money and longer contracts rather than paying exorbitant salaries to players like Knockhaet , Cavaleiro and few others i can name
