Marco Silva conceded Fulham didn’t deserve anything from the trip to Blackpool as the Whites’ unbeaten start to the season went up in smoke at Bloomfield Road.
Josh Bowler’s fine individual strike early in the second half handed the home side their first league win of the campaign – and Blackpool were fully deserving of all three points. Silva told his post-match press conference:
“First, congratulations to Blackpool. We didn’t have a good enough performance from ourselves to win the game. If you look at the chances, the game was balanced, more control from ourselves as normal, but we didn’t create enough chances and we didn’t perform in the way we needed to in this football match, that is the truth. We will now analyse why those things happened, why we started the game slow, why our build-up was so slow this afternoon.
“We have to play faster with more intensity to create the chances. Three or four times in the first half we created the chances, but we have to be more consistent during the game and not make mistakes like we did this afternoon.”
“We won’t make excuses, because if you want to have international players you know the schedule as well, and we have to go and challenge in the match. I’m not thinking about the international break. We must do more during the game, and it’s not because of that. Some players arrived midway through the week, some a little bit later, but that’s part of the game. If I decided to play some of them it’s because I felt they were ready.”
We are not as strong in numbers as we thought were, the players who started today weren’t good enough to fill in for our missing players i hope we will have our full strength team back for our next game, our finishing was very poor today.
We only had three missing players… and the ones who filled in for them have all done so in previous matches this season and been absolutely fine. The only new change was Quina, who didn’t look bad for his first minutes of the season. The changes weren’t the problem at all. In fact, we should have had MORE changes. Ream and Robinson should never have started, that should have been Mawson and Bryan. We lost the game because we were tame and inaccurate in front of goal. And because our goalkeeper is very poor – has been since game one. Rodak should be playing, but it’s going to take a huge mistake from Gazzaniga for Silva to drop him.
I fully concur about our goalkeeper. Rodak should be playing. Give Robinson a rest again Birmingham and play Bryan. Put Stansfield a natural goal scorer on the bench he has already scored against Birmingham this season
Agree with all above
Andy sorry mate but Quina was awful and should have been subbed halfway through the first half. Agree both Ream and Robinson should have been rested and I thought the subs came on far too late to change the game.. Bad day at the office for Silva..
Sounds like we have yet to shake off the Parker style. And drop Caveliero and Ream – permanantly
We were getting carried away with our start. Now the season starts!!
Cavaliero has been poor for some time. Reams a yard off the pace.
But as corporal Jones said DON’T PANIC !!
Totally agree about Cavaliero, I don’t see why he warrants a place in the squad.
