Aleksandar Mitrovic will be fit to face the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday night despite suffering a cheekbone injury in the 4-1 win over Luxembourg yesterday afternoon.
The Fulham striker scored twice in Belgrade to send Serbia top of Group A, but there was alarm as he was substituted with seven minutes to go with a nasty under his eye. Serbian coach Dragan Stojkovi? suggested that he might be a doubt for the trip to Dublin after the game on Saturday, but the Serbian camp have confirmed that Mitrovic will be able to lead the line against Stephen Kenny’s side.
Mitrovic, whose brace against Luxembourg took him to 43 goals from 65 international caps, should also be able to return for Fulham’s Championship fixture against Blackpool next weekend as well.
