Marco Silva has urged promising midfielder Fabio Carvalho to commit his future to Fulham.

The teenage academy graduate turned down Fulham’s first offer of a new contract earlier this summer and is now in the final year of his current deal at Craven Cottage. Carvalho, who broke into the senior side at the end of last season, scored on his first Premier League start at Southampton and is reportedly interesting a number of top sides, including Leeds, West Ham and Porto.

Silva told his pre-match press conference yesterday afternoon:

“I think it’s important for us that he signs, and to be honest with you, it’s important for him. He came from the academy and Fabio is performing well. He is in the team. But I need him to concentrate on his football.”

The eighteen year-old is set for an extended run in the first team with club captain Tom Cairney facing a further spell on the sidelines in his battle to beat troublesome knee injuries.
