Marco Silva believes Jean Michael Seri wants to stay with Fulham and feels the midfielder can play a pivotal part in the club’s promotion push.

The Ivorian international had been heavily linked with a summer move away from Craven Cottage but came into the starting line-up for Fulham’s thumping win at Huddersfield on Saturday. Seri delivered another fine display from a deep-lying central midfield role as the Whites beat Millwall last night and Silva believes the former Nice man can be a real asset in the Championship as he gains more match sharpness.

The Fulham head coach told his post-match press conference at the New Den last night:

“Since I arrived at the club I have spoken with him and I was clear with him. He wants to stay and hasn’t told me anything otherwise.

He had a very good pre-season and has really impressed me in all the games he has played so far. He is still working hard to keep his place in the starting 11 but I am really happy with him. In the next few games he will improve his physical condition, he needs to play 90 minutes regularly to become fitter.”
