Marco Silva believes Jean Michael Seri wants to stay with Fulham and feels the midfielder can play a pivotal part in the club’s promotion push.
The Ivorian international had been heavily linked with a summer move away from Craven Cottage but came into the starting line-up for Fulham’s thumping win at Huddersfield on Saturday. Seri delivered another fine display from a deep-lying central midfield role as the Whites beat Millwall last night and Silva believes the former Nice man can be a real asset in the Championship as he gains more match sharpness.
The Fulham head coach told his post-match press conference at the New Den last night:
“Since I arrived at the club I have spoken with him and I was clear with him. He wants to stay and hasn’t told me anything otherwise.
He had a very good pre-season and has really impressed me in all the games he has played so far. He is still working hard to keep his place in the starting 11 but I am really happy with him. In the next few games he will improve his physical condition, he needs to play 90 minutes regularly to become fitter.”
I’m sure the reality is not that Seri has changed his mind about the club, but rather that he’s realised he’s not a top-level player after all, and shouldn’t have been so hasty to consider the Championship as below him. Credit to him, because most never shake that belief.
Should have been included in the Premier League squad by Parker. Parker choosing more defenders like Le Marchand was ridiculous. Seri is to class player and is good enough for the Premier League.
This is great news. Seri clearly shown his skill in past two matches and clearly is a different man under Silva . I take back my views of sulking Seri ! I expect his age 30 does not way in his favor for a move and if he is being offered the good wages then he is better off being in a club tipped at winning the league . But I would also expect that Silva’s power of persuasion and respect he has from the squad as a proven successful manager also helps a lot . The same may apply to young Fabio who is looking more likely to sign a contract and become one of Fulham’s youngest icons . We can be assured that none of this would have been the case under Parker who lost the respect of squad, the Chair and fans alike . Finally “hats off” to Chairman Khan who spotted Silva ‘s talents – thats the key to success …finding who is best at the job . ??
