Roma are considering a move to sign Fulham midfielder Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa on a permanent basis, according to reports from Italy this morning.
Il Messaggero claims that Fulham’s Cameroonian midfielder is not keen on playing in the Championship and would welcome an opportunity away from Craven Cottage. Fulham yesterday rejected a loan offer from Valencia and Roma have added Anguissa to a shortlist for new midfielders that also includes Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, Denis Zakaria, Thomas Delaney and Teun Koopmeiners, according to Gazetta dello Sport.
The Italian sports newspaper claims that Roma would be prepared to pay around £17m for Anguissa, whilst Fulham are holding out for an offer closer to their £21m valuation. Anguissa, who has 68 Fulham appearances in two seasons in London sandwiched between a more successful loan spell at Villarreal, started last Saturday’s friendly against Charlton – but getting him off the wage bill permanently would ease the Whites’ FFP worries. Luiz remains the Giallorrosi’s main target, but Villa are currently uninterested in parting with the Brazilian.
He was on Loan at Villarreal not Valencia the year before last ?
Yes, he was. Apologies – not sure how I’ve got Valencia in twice there.
I was beginning to think we could hang on to Anguissa but it makes sense to sell him I suppose with Tyrese coming through. Wouldn’t take less than £20m though, last season he looked like the player we hoped for when we first signed him
I would be happy to sell him even though I love him as a player. If we could get 20m that would be a semi-fair price. Plus, I am all for it if we could bring in the Watford duo. I am buzzing for Sunday. COYW
Whilst no one player guarantees we can bounce back again he would be a real stand out performer in the Championship and I’d hoped we would want to keep him if we are serious about staying up next time.
Whilst £20M + would help FFP, a player of his quality would cost that next year and then need time to gel (something Seri never really did and something Frank needed time to do).
IMO would be a real loss and a backward step.
Take whatever we can get, it’s imperative to get both Anguissa and Seri off the books in order to move forward. Neither of them lived up to the hype and loaning them out has been the wrong way to go. Lack of goals cost us last season and this guy flatters when he charges forward as nothing ever comes of it. Loved maybe but unfortunately grossly overrated.
