Fulham defender Maxime Le Marchand is set to seal a permanent switch to Strasbourg by the end of the week, according to reports from France tonight.
The former Nice defender is close to agreeing a two-year contract with the Racers, according to Le10Sport. Julien Stéphan has moved to strengthen his defence following Strasbourg’s dreadful start to the new Ligue 1 campaign, which has left them bottom of the table having taken just a single point from their first three matches.
Le Marchand, who was loaned to Belgian side Royal Antwerp for the second half of last season, has not featured under new Fulham boss Marco Silva and is now considered surplus to requirements at Craven Cottage. The 31 year-old has made 48 appearances in three years with the London club.
It is a good move for the player and both clubs. He wanted to return to his native France. Always gave his best for Fulham. We already have too many central defenders and need to trim down in that position. I hope that does not mean the powers to be are going to sign Phil Jones. We do not want an overpaid carthorse with constant injury problems.
I sincerely hope that this news of Jones from Man Utd is not true, it’s about time we learnt our lesson where washed up premier League players are concerned.
Re Maxime , he never seemed to fit in . Accident prone . But wish him best in his homeland where I hope he can regain his confidence and skills
Gave 100% but never quite fitted in. Wish him good luck in his new venture hopefully in his homeland.
