Fulham defender Maxime Le Marchand is set to seal a permanent switch to Strasbourg by the end of the week, according to reports from France tonight.

The former Nice defender is close to agreeing a two-year contract with the Racers, according to Le10Sport. Julien St├ęphan has moved to strengthen his defence following Strasbourg’s dreadful start to the new Ligue 1 campaign, which has left them bottom of the table having taken just a single point from their first three matches.

Le Marchand, who was loaned to Belgian side Royal Antwerp for the second half of last season, has not featured under new Fulham boss Marco Silva and is now considered surplus to requirements at Craven Cottage. The 31 year-old has made 48 appearances in three years with the London club.
