Reports from Portugal suggest that Fulham head coach Marco Silva may be close to a reunion with William Carvalho at Craven Cottage.

The Championship club are interested in taking the 29 year-old defensive midfielder on an initial loan, with an option to turn the deal into a permanent transfer should Fulham win promotion back to the Premier League. Silva managed Carvalho during his time with Sporting Lisbon and, although Betis are hoping to seal a permanent exit for the Portuguese international before the summer transfer window, they are apparently open to Fulham’s proposal.

Carvalho has been linked with moves to West Ham United and Norwich City in recent days, but both Premier League clubs have apparently baulked at his current wage demands. The midfielder, who won the Portuguese title and Cup during his time at Sporting, was part of the Portuguese squad that won Euro 2016 and the 2018/2019 Nations League and would prove a useful addition with doubts still persisting about when Harrison Reed will be fit to retake his role in front of the Fulham back four.
