New Fulham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga is relishing the ‘challenge’ of helping the club win promotion from the Championship.

The Argentine international signed a two-year contract at Craven Cottage yesterday, after being released by Tottenham Hotspur last month. The 29 year-old is expected to compete with Marek Rodak for the number one jersey.

Gazzaniga told Fulham FC TV he was excited about a new start.

“I think it is a very interesting club. I like it, I think it is a great club. I love the challenge – and I think this a great challenge for me. The Championship is a very strong league. I always followed the Championship and I like it. It is very interesting for me because it is a lovely challenge.”

The goalkeeper revealed that he had spoken to his former Southampton team-mate Harrison Reed ahead of agreeing his switch to Fulham.

“I spoke to Harry Reed. We played together at Southampton. I text him as soon as I knew I was going to sign him, so I spoke with him a little bit. It was a plus. If you know someone at a new place where you are going, it is always nice.

“My ambition is to train hard, give my best and through this try to help team mates. My objective is to keep growing. At the end, bringing everyone together would be a fantastic experience.”
