Scott Parker has signed a three-year contract at Bournemouth after leaving Fulham earlier today.
Parker told afcbTV tonight:
“I believe this is the perfect fit for both parties. I’m familiar with Bournemouth because of my relationship with Harry Arter. It’s a football club I know well from watching him over the years.
“The ethos, the reputation, the journey and the challenge here is something that’s very exciting for me and my staff. We want to build a team the fans can be proud of and one they feel represents them. We can’t wait to get started.”
Name me a Fulham manager, apart from Roy and Robson who went on to better things?
I wish Scott well, but I look forward to a more attacking approach – at home.
I’m not surprised he has left.
Although alot of the comments from fans seem that they are happy to see him leave, I feel he would of had a much better chance if he and those before him were not tied down the the Khan’s stupid transfer policy. Which has cost us many missed opportunities or the required experience we have needed when trying to stay up.
I hope the new manager has better luck with that, but I doubt it.
Think Eddie howe is a better option than Steve Cooper.
I’m a concerned Fulham fan at the moment. The fact that so many of the backroom staff have left aswell doesn’t sit well with me, something doesn’t add up. They have all jumped ship to follow Scot to Bournemouth, what does that tell you!!!
Good riddance!
With a bit of luck, he will be back to sign players he favoured like Cavaleiro etc
A new coach almost always brings in his favoured assistants so I am not the slightest bit bothered about the rats that have jumped ship with Parker. What had they actually contributed anyway?
It will be extremely interesting to see what happens at Bournemouth. Personally, I firmly believe that they have made a huge mistake and will regret their decision to bring in Parker and his cohorts. One thing’s for certain, Scott Parker did not get the backing he desired at Fulham but, if he thinks Bournemouth have deeper pockets, he is about to be disillusioned.
He is a young coach with a lot to learn. He scraped us into the Premiership with a brand of football that was occasionally exciting but. more often than not, pretty dire. In the Premiership, he got a huge amount of publicity and kudos after he had a change of playing philosophy following a disastrous start to the season but, ultimately, he couldn’t keep it going and the final quarter of the season was a shambles. He showed his stubborn pig headedness by getting into conflict with the one player that might have scored goals for us and continuing to select Cavaleiro. Players such as Andersen, Tosin and, in particular, Lookman -quality players all – saw their performance levels drop and we have to ask why this happened. Why couldn’t Parker raise his players for games?
Whatever, he has finally gone after a protracted, long drawn-out negotiation-which, incidentally, does not reflect well on our club.
We now await the new manager and I hope and pray that the Khans get this one right.
Cooper is not the right fit as we will find out very early but, having seen that the entire Bournemouth coaching staff under Eddie Howe are now free agents, I am making an educated guess that Howe is being courted by Khan Senior.
Whoever it is, it needs to happen soon
Press Release: “very average manager signs for very average club”. For once I agree with Parker, it is a perfect fit for both parties. Of course TK didnt help but dont forget Parker was given the best Championship squad on paper and we limped over the promotion line winning games by a single goal. We needed a change. He was in my mind just too boring a person and his tactics too negative to motivate the players. A bit of passion and adventure wouldnt go a miss. Hopefully theres a chance of keeping Mitro but I’m guessing Parker has already turned his head away from Fulham. We need to get ourselves sorted quickly as the squad needs a lot of tinkering.
Most annoying thing about all this is, why have we let him go “by mutual consent”? He’s obviously been negotiating with Bournemouth behind the scenes while technically still our manager, otherwise they wouldn’t have been able to announce a three-year deal, including all of his backroom staff, within hours of leaving FFC. So they must have made contact, so why have we not insisted on some compensation? This has basically ended up being exactly the normal movement of a manager from one team to another, but with us forgoing our right to some money, for some reason. Madness.
