Securing the promising Tosin Adarabioyo from Manchester City for a mere £1.5m still seems like one of the best bargains in Fulham’s recent history. The tall and composed centre back formed a fine partnership with Joachim Andersen that helped solidify a very leaky back four and, although it proved unsuccessful in keeping the Whites up, Adarabioyo could be very pleased with his first taste of Premier League football.
The likeable defender stayed with Fulham and shone as Marco Silva’s side surged to the Championship title, striking up a ball-playing partnership with veteran Tim Ream at the heart of the back four. The Manchester-born ball-playing centre back cruised to a century of appearances but became disenchanted after losing his place after the arrival of Issa Diop and Calvin Bassey and moved to Stamford Bridge on a free transfer. There was a certain irony in his first appearance against Fulham coinciding with the Whites’ first SW6 derby win at the Bridge in 45 years on Boxing Day.
