Marlon’s proposed Fulham move has collapsed after the Brazilian defender failed his medical, according to a report in the Athletic this morning.
Fulham had agreed a £13.75m transfer with Sassuolo for the 25 year-old, who it was hoped would help ease their defensive worries after a shaky start to the season, but the 25 year-old centre back did not pass his Motspur Park medical after travelling to London to complete the deal, despite conflicting reports last week from Italy. The Athletic suggests that Fulham are now attempting to bring in other targets, including Bremer from Torino, Tottenham’s Juan Foyth and the Watford centre back Craig Dawson.
At least we have avoided signing another player with injury problems. why oh why did the club let Mawson go on loan until we have signed another central defender.this issue should have been our number one priority as soon as we won the play off final. we now end up with nobody in the problem position or a second rate layer out of desperation> hector has not acclimatised and does not look up the job at the moment. he needs confidence. ream and Odoi only OK as fill ins if that.
Maybe a blessing not sure he was what we need small for a CB. Stats said not great in air or strong in tackle, good passer, not fast,. We need a strong guy who can get his head to crosses , and get stuck in.mind you so do most Premiership teams. Defending seems a dieing art
There is a silver lining as we are looking at Godfrey who is young and quick and has prem experience and would fit the way Parker wants us to play.
The CB problem should have been sorted asa priority I don’t think Tony Khan has a clue and I dread to see who he will end up getting in , probably worse than we already have.
Fallen through. OK, shows importance of thorough medical. Aside from that, TK’s interview which showed pride in his metrics, right or wrong, is irrelevant if the art of sealing a deal to the benefit of the team is lacking.
Another one bites the dust!
Not sure Tony Khan gets this soccer transfer thing – his rambling message on FFCs website certainly didn’t suggest so.
Lucky we never signed this guy, now is not time to pull out all the stops and get this Jonathan Tah it’s a no brainer, or Tibido and Godfrey looks good, maybe Dawson, Four names lets please get one of them if not two apparently we have the money, but Tah would show intent of where we want to go as a club if not we always got LeMarchand, other reams seem to achieve this why not Fulham
COYW let’s beat Villa tonight please
Please can we not make a statement signing, we have needed a strong defender for 3 seasons now. We saw how making late signings impacts on the team, the players take time to blend together, that’s why we have pre-seasons. Plus our position in the league doesn’t help in persuading new players to join us.
Why do we not learn from the mistakes???
Gods work in mysterious ways ! We need a big strong CD – Did some digging on Marlon – and indeed as others said not so great .
Has not failed – hasn’t even taken a medical yet, it is ‘on hold’ following Marlon testing positive for covid last week
Tony Khan is the biggest problem Fulham have! Will it take another humiliating.relegation for his father to sack him? Don’t bank on it , Khan Senior is clueless about the game too !!!!
Keitho have you tried sending your suggestions on a postcard to the fulham scouting department, i’m not sure they read Hammyend
Tony Khan is completely out of his depth. From the second we achieved promotion, he should have lined up a couple of good central defenders and signed them. Yet this clown is busy pursuing attackers. What is that definition of insanity again… doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. What a moron.
I agree sack Tony Khan as he doesn’t have a clue and he has learned nothing from our last time in the premiership, we need to spend big on 2 propper c.bs or we are going straight back down, sick of being linked to every player in the world and never actually doing anything about them, how come other clubs don’t have this problem? ?
Bit harsh the remarks on Khan not many good CB about most Premiership clubs need some. All trying for same ones. If you listin to his interview on official site few fell through early on. Chelsea came in and nicked one who was free agent, who was going to sign for us. We had shorter pre season than anyone else. Made it even tougher for us, feel we got some good players this window
Moneyball hasn’t worked for Fulham.
There’s more to football than stats.
If TK sincere about he’s apology he should resign.
