Fulham have made a late move to sign Brentford forward Said Benrahma from under the noses of Crystal Palace, according to a Daily Mail report this afternoon.
The Eagles were thought to be front runners in the race for the Algerian winger, but Fulham have apparently made contact with Benrahma’s agent ahead of submitting a formal offer for his services. The former Nice forward has been widely tipped to make a Premier League move after Brentford were beaten in the Championship play-off final last August, but the Bees are holding out for several suitors to match their valuation, which is believed to be around £30m.
Benrahma, who was linked with a move to Chelsea towards the end of last season, scored seventeen goals in 46 games for Brentford last season, including hat-tricks against Wigan and Hull City, and laid on eight more for his team-mates. The 25 year-old, who has won five senior international caps for his country, had a series of domestic loans after struggling to make an impact with Nice before moving to Griffin Park for around £2.7m in July 2018.

Why are we not spending £30m on a central defender? We need to shore up our defense before pursuing yet more attacking players. Tony Khan is a complete idiot and is out of his depth.

Not being funny but I can’t see them selling the lad to Fulham for any price. They don’t need the money and the lad still has more than 2 years left on his contract. Why would the player want to come and play for you?! You’ve got 36 games left in the prem, enjoy them! Palace a far better option

If Tony Khan was any good he would understand the difference between statistics and a player. He would also be working in daddy’s proper business rather than his hobby

Tony Khan is the main problem at Fulham! Until he either goes off and plays at Wrestling or his father finally has the sense to fire him, we will get nothing but relegation from this league! I am truly amazed how many Fulham fans leap to his defence, especially on TIFF and Friends of Fulham! They are deluded!!!
John, I am not leaping to anybody’s defence, simply recognising reality, if son and father up sticks, we are cattle trucked. If that’s the hand were dealt, and currently we are in the prem I believe ! I can think of a lot of other times that I remember just over twenty years ago and we were all but dead and buried, I would rather be at the party now and then rather than not at all.
But he does not have the expertise or contacts to sign the right players! We need a professional DofF. Some of you are paranoid about his father leaving so you tolerate this disastrous amateur and his ignorance of our needs. We are as big a club as half the teams in the Premier League, but will not realise our potential with amateurs like Tony Khan in charge!
John, financial fact for better or worse with with TC, we are now in so deep financially that for anybody to buy us it wouldn’t make fiscal sense to do so, I keep trying to tell the halfwits in blue, the soviet saviour has not gifted the money to them, it simply goes into a holding company with what is effectively a sinking fund which ultimately is repayable on demand, same as any bank, so when the debt is substantially greater than the value the only option is liquidation. I have worked in finance for a good few years now and may I tell you it’s a brutal world of reality.
