Fulham are mulling a potential move for Bayer Leverkusen central defender Jonathan Tah as they look to add defensive reinforcements before the close of the summer transfer window.
Scott Parker’s side were beaten 3-0 by Arsenal on the opening day of the new season – and the deficiencies in the centre of the Fulham defence were all too apparent. Tah, a German international, has been historically linked with Arsenal and a number of leading Premier League clubs but Leicester are known to have been interested earlier this summer. The Telegraph suggests that Foxes boss Brandon Rodgers has identified Wesley Fofana as his main target, which leaves Fulham free to chase the 24 year-old.
The Telegraph report suggests that Tah, who has spent five seasons with Leverkusen, might be available this summer if Fulham were to come in with an attractive offer. He has made more than a hundred first-team appearances for Leverkusen having come through the Hamburg youth academy and has won ten senior caps for Germany.

Need a quality centre back alongside Hector. Tim Ream is not good enough, his confidence has never recovered since our past spell in the prem. We have papered over the cracks in our defence for years now – in the championship we can our score teams, in the prem we can’t!

Sounds that he could be a very valuable acquisition if only TK wasn’t so obsessed with his statistics. Shad Khan is doing great things for the club long-term, however allowing TK to be head of football operations is dangerous at best. You only have to look at the Craig Kline debacle.
Khan junior is just using PR as a way of blindsiding us fans. We know the amount of goals that were let in the last time we were in the Premier League(no disrespect). I would be advocating new defensive reinforcements, however the method of purchasing players is severely floored-and quite frankly-we must miss out on many a good player just because they don’t meet the criteria. Ranieri said as much on the subject.
Ranieri was a disaster for Fulham. Listen to the Kevin McDonald podcast that was linked here over the summer – it summed up why that guy shouldn’t be taken seriously in modern football. I really think we should have stuck with Slav.
Everyone agrees we need a centre half (possibly two or three looking at the squad. I don’t understand why this wasn’t the first priority after we got promoted.

I am seriously worried about the club I have supported for 50+ years. We lack the quality and nous to survive in the Premier League. We have a few good players but urgently need reinforcements in key areas such as defence and at least one more 20 goal striker. It is honourable to stick with the team that got us promoted but on the evidence of the Arsenal game it isn’t going to work. No expectation to win that game but the manner of the defeat was not encouraging at all. The rumour about Tah, if true, is encouraging. Parker does appear to be good at selling the Fulham dream to decent players who otherwise would just brush us off.
