Fulham remain keen to sign Southampton midfielder Harrison Reed on a permanent basis following his outstanding loan spell at Craven Cottage.
The 25 year-old midfielder has been a revelation in Scott Parker’s engine room this season – starring in seventeen appearances since overcoming persistent injury problems that made his start to life in SW6 a slow one. The former England under-20 international, who has made 30 senior appearances for the Saints, has imposed a tighter grip on the Fulham midfield than many of the alternatives that Parker has played this season and has quickly become a firm favourite with the club’s fans.
Fulham’s hopes of acquiring Reed on a permanent basis probably depend on the Whites winning promotion back to the top flight. They currently sit six points adrift of Leeds and Brentford outside the Championship’s automatic promotion places and it is unlikely that Reed, who has spent time on loan at Blackburn and Norwich in the second tier in recent seasons, would be willing to ply his trade outside the Premier League for another campaign.
