Sporting Lisbon have been linked with a surprise move for Fulham full back Cyrus Christie, according to a Daily Mirror report.

The Portuguese giants, who finished third last season, are keen to add depth to their squad at right back and are currently putting together a bid for the Republic of Ireland international. Christie, who joined Fulham last January and made 28 appearances last term as the Whites were relegated from the Premier League, is understood to be very interested in a potential move to Sporting.

The 26 year-old, who has two years to run on his current deal at Craven Cottage, enjoyed a regular run in the Fulham side last season after Ryan Fredericks moved to West Ham in the summer and Manchester United’s Timothy Fosu-Mensah struggled on loan. Christie, who has won 23 caps for the Republic of Ireland, has made 32 first-team appearances for Fulham since signing from Middlesbrough in January. His only goal to date was a stunning strike against Millwall in the League Cup at the New Den.
