Fulham have launched another attempt to sign Southampton full back Matt Targett, according to a Sky Sports News report.

The 23 year-old left back played a pivotal part in Fulham’s promotion to the Premier League in 2018 – after joining on loan in January. Targett forged a formidable partnership with Ryan Sessegnon down the left flank, making 21 appearances and scoring a single goal, as Slavisa Jokanovic’s side triumphed in the Championship play-offs.

Fulham were keen to keep Targett on a permanent basis but they had several bids rebuffed by Southampton over the course of the summer. He made 21 first-team appearances last season and the Saints remain keen to keep him at St. Mary’s. Fulham are willing to test the south coast club’s resolve to keep the full back by tabling a significant offer and attempting to lure him back to London with an offer of first-team football.
