German World Cup winner André Schürrle was a massive disappointment after joining Fulham from Borussia Dortmund on a proposed two-season loan in July 2018. That arrangement lasted just one infuriating season where the former Chelsea winger flickered briefly – scoring sensational individual goals in defeats at Cardiff and Burnley – but failed to find any consistency. He left the club following Fulham’s relegation back to the Championship.
