Fulham caretaker manager Scott Parker was not sure how to celebrate his first victory in management, but he is already making plans for Fulham’s next promotion campaign.

Parker had little chance of saving the Cottagers when he was appointed caretaker manager at the beginning of March, so the well-deserved victory over Everton will strengthen his case for a permanent appointment.

Fulham’s fans and players appear to support him, as captain Tom Cairney confirmed: “I can speak on behalf of the players, and we believe in him and his methods.

We have definitely improved, as you could see against Everton.

Maybe it could have been different for us if he’d got the job earlier but that’s hindsight.”

“We can only speak about now and prepare for life in the championship, and hopefully he can take us forward.

He wants to be the very best in everything he does, preparation, on the pitch, detail.

He’ll go a long way.”
