Former school sprint champion Ryan Fredericks overcame an injury-ravaged start to his Craven Cottage career to become a crucial part of the Fulham side that won promotion to the Premier League in such style under Slavisa Jokanovic. He ended any debut about who the club’s first choice right back was with a series of sensational displays in the 2016-2017 season, when Fulham fell agonisingly short in the play-off semi-final with Reading, and added another string to his bow with a number of vital assists as the Whites put together a 23-match unbeaten run to come close to overhauling Cardiff to the race for automatic promotion the following year. Fredericks’ final game for Fulham – before a Bosman move to West Ham – was the play-off final where the Whites beat Aston Villa at Wembley in the summer of 2018, despite being reduced to ten men.
