Aleksandar Mitrovic has moved to Fulham on loan from Newcastle until the end of the season, subject to deadline day clearance.

The Serbian striker saw a proposed move to former club Anderlecht fall through after the Belgian club failed to sell another player to finance the deal. Slavisa Jokanovic moved quickly to conclude a deal to bring his compatriot to Craven Cottage with Mitrovic out of favour with Rafa Benitez at St. James’ Park.

Fulham director of football operations Tony Khan said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Aleksandar to the Club. He is a talented player who has already amassed an impressive record at the highest levels of the game. We’re looking forward to him joining the Fulham squad and helping us build towards our ultimate goal of promotion this season.”

The 23 year-old has scored 17 goals in 72 appearances for Newcastle and has struggled to replicate the form that saw the Magpies pay £13m for his services in 2015. Mitrovic scored 44 goals in 90 appearances for Anderlecht, helping them win the Belgian title, and has scored eleven times in 33 appearances for his country.
