Fulham forward Sone Aluko has joined Reading for a fee believed to be in the region of £7.5m.

The Nigerian international had reportedly asked for a new deal or a transfer following his impressive first campaign at Craven Cottage. Aluko completed his Reading medical earlier this afternoon and has signed a four-year contract at the Madjeski Stadium.

Aluko scored nine goals in 50 matches for Slavisa Jokanovic’s side last season, having joined Fulham on a free transfer from Hull City in the summer. The 28 year-old was a vital part of the side that made a late surge to reach the Championship play-offs, where the Whites were beaten 2-1 on aggregate by Reading.

Reading manager Jaap Stam said: “In Sone, we welcome a quality player into our squad. With his pace and ability on the ball, he can make life difficult for every opponent we face this season and he has experience of playing at the level we want to play at. He poses a threat going forward, he keeps the ball well, he can play as a striker or out on the wing and I am sure he will improve us as a squad. So I’m very happy that he has chosen to join us.”
