Richard Stearman arrived at Fulham in September 2015 as one of the Championship’s most consistent centre backs and with a brief to help tighten a leaky defence. The former Wolves captain struggled to recapture his previous form in a stop-start spell at Craven Cottage that saw him make just 32 appearances in two seasons before signing for Sheffield United in July 2017.
