Fulham have had a £5m offer for Birmingham City forward Che Adams turned down as the Blues begin contract talks to keep the attacker at St. Andrew’s.

Head coach Slavisa Jokanovic is desperate to recruit strikers to Craven Cottage have dispensed with the services of on-loan forwards Chris Martin and Cyriac over the summer, leaving only Cauley Woodrow and young Stevie Humphrys as recognised forwards in his first-team squad. While Diego Rolan hesitates over a potential move to London, Jokanovic had made Adams his prime domestic target, but Birmingham don’t believe that the £5m bid matches the 21 year-old’s value to the club and Harry Redknapp wants to retain his services in any case.

The former Sheffield United forward scored seven times in 40 league appearances for City last term and it remains to be seen whether Fulham will return with an increased offer in the coming days.
