Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon has signed his first professional contract – which will keep him at Craven Cottage until 2020.

The teenager had been heavily linked with a Premier League move after the Whites missed on promotion to the top flight themselves, losing in the Championship play-off semi finals to Reading. The 17 year-old, comfortable either at left back or on the left wing, has enjoyed a meteoric rise since being handed by senior debut by Slavisa Jokanovic in the League Cup at Leyton Orient last August.

Sessegnon made 30 senior appearances – scoring seven times – and becoming a key part of Jokanovic’s side in the second half of last season. He told the club’s official website: “I’m excited to see what’s in front of me at this club, hopefully we can all push on now. Last year I got a lot of opportunities from the gaffer, and I just want to continue that.”

Jokanovic added: “Ryan joined our first team squad early during pre-season last summer. One year on, I’m pleased that Ryan’s performances have been rewarded with his first professional contract with Fulham and he will continue to be part of our project in the future. He is an exceptional young player who has demonstrated loyalty and commitment by continuing to serve this club since his progression from the academy.”
