Brighton and Hove Albion are ready to test Fulham’s resolve to keep hold of Kevin McDonald by offering £2m for the Scottish midfielder, according to a report from the Sun.

Chris Hughton is keen to offer the 28 year-old a return to the top flight after he impressed in his first season at Craven Cottage. McDonald, who has three years left on his current deal at Fulham, is also interesting Rangers. The tabloid claims that the combative midfielder would be interested in a Premier League return having previously represented Burnley at that level.

McDonald, who hasn’t given up hope of returning to Gordon Strachan’s national squad, became a key part of Slavisa Jokanovic’s side after his move from Wolves last summer. He played 48 games in all competitions for Fulham last year, scoring three goals, as the Whites were beaten in the Championship play-off semi-finals.
